-X- Shaving Side Markers -X-

First step is to remove the marker from the quarter and grind down the area surrounding the marker hole

Next cut out a metal plate that is roughly the same size, At this point 2 options are there, either weld the plate in flush or put the plate against the back side. We decided to do the latter option to weld it from behind.

Use spot welds to hold the plate in place

Spot weld around the entire area filling all holes, be care of the amount of heat an wire speed.

After welding up the panel, next weld up the screw holes to either side of the marker hole

Next grind down all the welds so that its flush as possible, not there is some difference in height because we put the plate on the inside and then spot welded it before we started, this is easy to correct and make a flush smooth surface

Now the hard part begins, making the body area FLUSH and SMOOTH. Welding is the easy part since the grinder can make it clean, but no matter how much primer there is, BAD body work = Bad Primer = Bad paint job. Follow directs and do not use BONDO use BODY FILLER Spread out around the area as shown in the pictures below. Normally sanding with 80 GRIT to get the heavy area off. Then go over the area with 120 and feather in the ends. Finally go over the area with 320.

After 320, using Primer to cover the bare metal and at this point the body should be smooth and level before spraying primer. Use Epoxy primer not spray can primer, unless that is the only option available.

Getting to this stage will take the above average person 2 hours with prepping and waiting for material to dry. Be ready to spend about 3-4 hours per side, but while one is drying working on the other side is!
